Untitled” by Danté

Public space is no longer what it used to be: while Manhattan’s rental rates consistently dropped this winter, the most sought-after real estate now lies somewhere between our corneas & our handheld devices. We’ll notice an important piece of street art once it’s shared in our flickering feed, then it’s subsequently tagged & dragged into the recycle bin of our collective short-term memory.
Thursday, Feb 27, 6-9PM opens a public viewing of original graffiti & street artists’ pieces curated by Elevated Scott (installed at YGallery Salon for a limited time). Selected works for the event include a one of a kind relic from TAKI183; one of the originators of the tagging genre, his work dates back in NYC to the 1960s & 70s. Also on display is a work on canvas by Phetus88, & emerging writer Dantέ will also present new artwork. Dantέ says, “I am an artist who personally believes that art is the essence of your soul and personality coming to life in your work.”
YGallery Salon is a creative hub for talented hairstylists & makeup artists in the heart of Soho. Known for being a cultural destination, YGallery co-creators Yaniv Levy & Yoni Kreger share an artistic ideology behind their work. Yaniv says, “your individual style makes you a work of art: we’d like our guests to enjoy the culmination of creativity and individuality that inspires the Yteam.” With beverages by Belvedere Vodka and complimentary 2-minute style consultations with the cut & color experts, let the tagging ensue: 180 Lafayette Street NYC.
